Together with RTL Group, Enovos is building Luxembourg’s first ground-mounted PV plants of this size. The two sites at Beidweiler and Junglinster will produce around 7 GWh of green electricity. This is roughly equivalent to the energy needs of 1,800 households. On Monday, construction of the first plant officially began in Beidweiler.
Only the sun was missing when Enovos and RTL Group officials saw the first support posts for the PV panels being anchored into the ground in Beidweiler on Monday. Beidweiler and Junglinster are home to the first ground-mounted plants of this size in Luxembourg. They are scheduled to be connected to the grid in January 2020. These plants are part of the projects that Enovos has launched after the first public tender for PV plants with a capacity of more than 500 kWp.
In total, Enovos, together with various partners, will install PV plants with a capacity of 11.5 MW in Luxembourg. An energy production of 11 GWh per year is expected, which is roughly equivalent to the energy needs of 2,800 households. For the country’s installed PV capacity, this means an increase of about 10%.
