naturstroum drive: When Changing Habits Means Saving Money

In March 2025, Enovos launched naturstroum drive, the first electricity tariff in Luxembourg designed for residential customers that charge their electric vehicle at home. A few months after its launch, the first findings clearly show a real change in consumption behavior among customers who subscribed to the product.

Off-peak hours to charge your electric vehicle

Do you own a vehicle and want to charge it smartly? naturstroum drive, our time-of-use electricity tariff, was specifically designed to optimize home charging for electric vehicles. With this tariff, you can save money by charging your vehicle and scheduling your energy consumption during off-peak or low-demand hours.

  • From midnight to 6 a.m.: benefit from a tariff that is 25% lower than the base rate to charge your vehicle overnight.
  • From 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday to Friday): electricity is billed at the base rate.
  • From 5 p.m. to midnight: during peak demand hours, the tariff is 6% higher than the base rate.
  • Weekends (Saturday and Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.): an additional reduced-rate time slot offers the most advantageous tariff (25% lower).

By adapting your habits to consume when energy is cheapest, you can charge your car at the best price and save money.

Smartly shifting consumption habits

A few months after the launch of naturstroum drive, the results speak for themselves: we have observed a clear shift in the charging and consumption habits of customers who subscribed to the product.

Previously, household consumption was relatively stable throughout the day on weekdays and weekends, with a moderate increase overnight and after 5 p.m. With naturstroum drive, results show a marked increase in consumption during low-demand hours (midnight to 6 a.m.) and a decrease during peak high-demand hours (5 p.m. to midnight). The numbers are telling:

  • 46% of daily consumption now takes place during low-demand hours, compared to only 28% previously.
  • 22% of daily consumption now takes place during peak hours, compared to 36% before.

These results demonstrate that our customers are indeed programming the charging of their electric vehicles and other appliances to consume during off-peak times (and on weekends, during midday solar hours), while shifting their use away from evening demand peaks.

The reward is significant: for example, a naturstroum drive customer consuming 460 kWh per month saves about €9 on their monthly bill – that’s nearly €110 per year (note that seasonality may slightly influence results).
